A message to my Sindhi Community

I  am writing this letter to share with you some good things I have experienced in my life.  Please go through it and I will be glad to hear from you.

We (our elders) were living in Sind.  This area was given to Pakistan and converted into a Muslim state.  Naturally, due to our traditions, it was difficult to continue and our elders left and settled in India and abroad.  That was a time of great difficulty, but we have been able to settle down and the next generations have grown up for over 60 years.

We have our own community and are closely knit together.  We seek to maintain our traditions and take care of our families and culture.

We try to please God in many ways, by going to the temple, by closely following what our elders taught us.  We do a good amount of charity and hope that by following the ancient traditions, we will attain to the divine state.

The fact that we can understand is that we can never become like God, however much we try.  Still we trust God to be kind and forgiving and believe that if a person is faithful to follow the true dharma, things will work out for them and he/she will attain to the divine state sooner or later.

Actually, God is not far from us.  He has made us in His own Image.  It is actually our sin that separates us from Him.  Moreover, due to our lack of fellowship with God, we can come into fear and depression. God hates sin and He punishes all who sin.  The divine punishment for sin is death - eternal separation from God in the Lake of Fire.   Since, we all have sinned, we richly deserve death.  I hope you understand this.  There is no hope for us because of the sins we have committed. Whatever be the penance or good acts we do, we cannot avoid judgement for our sins.

But, God Himself has made a way for us.  We can never hope to attain to God by our good acts.  Hence, God sent His Son, Jesus Christ.  He came in the same human frame, lived a sinless life and died on the cross.  On the cross, He took the judgement for our sins and suffered and died.  But, since He had never sinned, God raised Him from the dead on the third day - never to die again.  Now, He is at the right hand of the Father.  He is the appointed High Priest and Mediator.  Jesus has many blessings for us.

What I am really trying to tell you is that I have experienced peace with God because all my sins have been forgiven, because of Jesus' death on the cross and now I am a child of God.  He has given me His Holy Spirit who leads me in a wonderful way with both God and men.  People trust their good acts to help them in the present life and future.  But, through Jesus, I am enjoying close fellowship with Him right now.

But, there is much moreā€¦

God looks at me as if I have never sinned.  Only what He permits happens to me, no misfortune befalls me.  I do not live in fear of anyone or anything.  I have had many problems solved, received rest in my Spirit and mind, and healing.  I have experienced God as my Father, like no earthly Father.

God has done wonderful things for me. For example, recently I almost passed-away as I was going to have a heart attack.  But, the Lord preserved me.  The pain was actually relieved on the way to the hospital itself, after prayer.  I had to undergo bypass surgery, but I recovered quickly.

I have desired things out of selfishness and pride.  God has helped me give up many things for His sake.  I do not have a grudge against anyone, when I have been wronged, I have forgiven.  Jesus also prayed to the Father on the cross, to forgive those who crucified Him as they did not know what they were doing.  I have also repaid apology and money when I have wronged anyone.  There is peace in my heart and I have a good conscience.

Frankly, perplexing things do happen to me, but I know that it is God's Will and it will work ultimately for my good.  I know I need correction in many situations and I accept it.

I sincerely recommend you to repent of (turn from) your sins and receive Jesus as your Saviour and Lord.  Jesus is the Only Way that God has made for the salvation of humanity.  Please write to me if you need any clarification or help.

Yours Sincerely,

 Naresh B Jumani
